Lily Allen – Smile

The song Smile by Lily Allen has both an indirect and direct address to the video. She’s walking along singing to the camera then it flashes back to an event. The narrative to the song is she’s someone you don’t want to mess with her. For the bulk of it, the video Is linear but in sections its non linear. But the out line of the song has a clear beginning and middle and ending. The video makes sense against the song.

The image given to the star of the video shows that she a strong independent woman who shouldn’t be messed with.

The different types of mise en scene are;
She’s wearing something which makes her blend in with everyone else. But she has a typical lily Allen trademark about how she dresses. Quite “chavy
The different areas which were filmed for the video are; His flat, Street, Café, Club

Several different types of camera techniques are used through the music video such as a close up of Lily Allen’s face as well as zooms, this is mainly because the video is being used as a promotional tool for the artist. There is also a point of view shoot used for when the boy walks in to his flat to see it has been trashed.

The song is very upbeat so therefore the song is seen as the genre POP. Also the lyric rhyme and are catchy not only that but the lyrics are amplified.
